Maureen, whose beloved husband died two years ago, is stuck in her bereavement and spends her time hanging out with her outspoken Jewish friend, Susan, and excessively exercising. Life revs up when fifty-five-year-old Bob Goldman, a nurse, moves into the Florida condo next door, then goes into overdrive when her sickly daughter, Alyssa, shows up from Brooklyn needing help. Maureen gradually learns her daughter’s dreadful secrets.

Can Maureen save her daughter? Is she too old to fall in love? To have sex?

 ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kathleen McMahon Schwartz began her professional life as a girly geek—mathematics major at SUNY Albany, computer programmer/analyst for AT&T and Honeywell in New York, later a tenured college instructor of Information Systems, then a technical writer for several years at AT&T and IBM. Finally tired of tech, she attended a writing seminar at the Stowe Library in Vermont and was inspired to begin a new career path as a fiction writer. Stay the Night is her first novel, and a new romance set in Mexico is underway. Kathleen and her husband recently traded their ski house in Vermont for a pool house in Florida, where her two sons and five stepsons will be frequent visitors. For fun, she was an improvisational role player for over nine years while in New Jersey, performing with a group of actors in many venues, from PTA groups to corporate training sessions. She is now a puppeteer, using her “granny” puppet to entertain at nursing homes.
